There are some of the EduMart purposes of collecting personal data, sorting and processing it accordingly, EduMart collects and processes the following personal data: Your First Name and Last Name, Your contact details in digital form, your demographic information such as your location, programmes shortlisted/chosen including disciplines and countries of interest, your funding situation such as available funds to process the application to such institutes, your preferred start period, your work experience, your previous education information etc.

Through this process, EduMart is allowed to process your personal data for these purposes and to pursue its own legitimate interest being controller of the personal data or being processor of your personal data to the educational institutions and other organizations; with the legitimate interest being to allow EduMart to provide the best service it is able to, in order to align you with the educational institutions or service providers such as accommodation providers, education loan providers of your choice etc.

We at EduMart processes your contact details in order to communicate with you for many reasons such as answer your questions, make necessary changes to your application (if any – in case of students) or handle your complaints etc. These processes apply to both students including future students/clients/customers and partners.

To make applications to specific universities/colleges etc. on behalf of student

Your personal information is being record and processed by EduMart enable you (students) to make application to specific university/college through EduMart rather than through any other channel such as university website. During this process EduMart will work as processor of your personal data and other information as required by the institute from time to time.

In this process, EduMart will processes the following personal data or any other personal information requested by and on behalf of the educational institution: your last name, your first name, your analog contact details, your digital contact details, your passport details, your educational transcripts, your project report (if any), your Resume/CV, your demographic information, your English Test Reports  and other aptitude test reports such as GRE/GMAT etc, various credentials, your chosen/shortlisted programmes including disciplines and countries of interest, your funding situation such as available funds to make that application, your previous education information and work experience, your preferred start period etc.

By way of this policy, EduMart reserves the right to process the personal data for this purpose since EduMart has its own legitimate interest to develop and optimize this particular service, if you have any object to this process, you may shout loud on the basis of your particular situation.

Making efforts for Allowing you to provide reviews

When you leave a review about a specific matter such as educational institution or a specific program, EduMart processes personal information to make necessary changes and conduct a research based on the information provided by you in your review.

During this process, EduMart processes (whether or not by means of a rating) the following personal data: your programme, your educational institution such as university or college, your personal life and overall experience with respect to the educational institute and its location and the programme you study there. EduMart may then provide such information along with your overall rating of the institution to other future students, which will appear on our portals along with any extra comments you have made so that they can take appropriate decision.

To the best efforts please note that any written reviews made by you may be checked by EduMart or its partner associates associated directly or indirectly with the institutes before making it public. This can happen automatically or manually based on the information provided in your review. EduMart would like to make sure that only high-quality reviews are being exposed. We may only remove reviews in the following situations:

  • When the review has intention to promotes illegal and/or commercial activities.
  • If reviews repeatedly address fellow reviewers on a personal level.
  • In case EduMart or another third-party organization or institution itself can prove a respondent did not study at the reviewed institution or said program.
  • When the review includes swearing, abusive language, threatening, discriminatory remarks, or sexual, personal political, unethical and religious viewpoints.
  • When the reviews are not the personal experience or opinion of the respondent.
  • In case the review has been submitted by a reviewer 3 or more years after they have studied at the institution.
  • If reviewers pretend to be another person or organization than itself.
  • If reviews are exposed in a repeatedly disturbing way.
  • If we suspect that a review isn’t genuine; for example, might be used to target a competitor.
  • If it includes personal details such as contact details like phone numbers, addresses or links to other websites etc.
  • If a review contains content that violates the rights of another person or an organization, intellectual property rights, and privacy rights.
  • Reviews entered by the threat of extortion.
  • If a review doesn’t contain information about the university or programme in detail.

Having said above EduMart is allowed to process personal data such as your email address, your statement used for review, your student ID information such as student enrolment number, programme of study, year from to till date etc because this is necessary for pursuing its legitimate interest or that of the educational institutions. These legitimate interests such as student reviews have found to be extremely helpful when aligning potential students with the best fitted educational institution or programme which is the core of EduMart’ services.

For the purpose of direct marketing

EduMart processes personal information for (direct) marketing purposes. This means that we may use your personal information to send you newsletters and other information such as promotions, or other marketing communications where we describe the services provided by us or our associates such as English Test Preparation, Education Loan Assistance, Part Time Work Assistance during your studies etc. During the process of direct marketing, we use the results of our analysis to tailor our marketing communications to your specific interests and preferences. For example, if our analysis shows that you may be interested living near to your institution or within, we may customize our direct marketing communication such as newsletter and Website with content that are relevant to you only. We may use different channels for our marketing communications, such as email, social media, and your personal online account.

We may also combine such aggregated data with information we receive from our subsidiaries, educational institutions, or from public sources.

EduMart is allowed to process personal data for this purpose because you gave consent or because EduMart has a legitimate interest. The consent can be withdrawn at any moment, and you can object at any moment to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes when such processing is based on EduMart or the educational institutions’ legitimate interest. The withdrawal of consent or exercise of your right to object does not affect the lawfulness of the processing prior to the moment of withdrawal or exercise of the right to object.

Security and retention

EduMart takes the safeguarding of your information very seriously. EduMart will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss or unlawful use. These measures include but are not limited to: facilities protected by appropriate security measures, encryption of devices, version tracking and access to our databases is limited to key personnel and IP addresses and use of it is logged. Personally, identifiable information and account activity are also protected through the use of user names and passwords. In order to help maintain the security of your information, you should protect the confidentiality of your user’s name and password.

Your personal data will be retained for as long as required for the purposes described in this Policy, or insofar as is necessary to comply with our contractual or statuary obligations, and to solve any disputes.
